Divergent - Veronica Roth

This Book Is Definitely A 5 Star.
Divergent is an incredible and unforgettable read. I enjoyed every bit of Divergent. The Characters, the plot, the setting – Everything!  Divergent is full of action, tension and edge.

Beatrice is 16 and must choose which faction she wants to go by for the rest of her life. No pressure, right? Anyways in this world there are factions which include Candor (honesty), Abnegation (selfless), Dauntless (bravery), Amity (the peacekeepers), and Erudite (intelligence).  There is also Divergent which is a mix of the factions above and being Divergent is very DANGEROUS. Can you guess which one Tris is?

Not liking the faction she was born in which is Abnegation Beatrice chooses Dauntless which surprises her family and herself. The faction she picks is not going to be all Oh Happy Days. Oh no, first you must win a place in the Dauntless and Tris learns she needs to toughen up or else.
Whilst fighting for her place in Dauntless Tris catches the eye of Four.  A man who oozes of bravery, tough and hot. This was a very nice subplot that made Divergent even better and it was kinda awesome how there was this sweet and delicate love thing going on with the main character whilst all this crazy stuff was happening.

Also I loved seeing Beatrice changed throughout the story. From being kind of weak and too small to defend herself changed into strong and courageous. A badass.

Unpredicted things took place in Divergent that will make you left gasping for more and make your heart race. If you loved Hunger Games and are into dystopian books then this is the book for you, my friend.
The Ending. I was speechless. I was all like
“NO! Veronica, how could you? Wait! Wait, what’s going to happen-?”
The ending was heart stopping. It left me wanting more and more.  I was left flabbergasted.  Read the book people or you will miss out BIG TIME.

Veronica Roth has made an epic addition in the dystopian genre that will set expectations very, very high.  I cannot wait to read more about Tris in the second book Insurgent which will come out May 1st 2012 by HarperTeen.

Please comment and tell me your thoughts on Divergent. :D

Delirium - Lauren Oliver

Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love -- the deliria -- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy. But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

Delirium - Lauren Oliver

This dystopian world (which seems to be the Trending Genre at the moment, some dystopian books - Matched, The Hunger Games and Uglies) Lauren Oliver creates has left me breathless. A world where Love is classed as a disease or what they call ‘Amor deliria nervosa’ and scientist have found a ‘cure’ for it which people have to have a procedure once they’re 18.  I was fascinated and intrigued by this.

The story follows 17 year old Lena, who has ninety-five days till her procedure, can’t wait to have her procedure and be cured of the long feared disease. But then she meets Alex.

Alex is an AMAZING person. He is courageous and caring with a damaged background and his attitude to life is so wonderful.  He opens Lena’s eyes to a whole new world. I admired him and after reading this book I am TEAM ALEX.  Lena and Alex’s relationship is emotional and passionate one and this makes us love the couple even more. Their relationship is the leading feature in the story. Their relationship kind of weaves the story together.

The Ending.  Wow. The ending left me speechless and yet gasping for more. It really sparkles when Lauren Oliver finishes the story with a heart aching cliff-hanger.  I cannot wait for the next book and have set my expectation even higher.

I LOVED this book. Lauren Oliver’s writing is beautiful.  So descriptive and detailed and the characters she creates are amazing.  Also I loved the quotes at the beginning of the chapter which gave us abit more insight of this Dystopian world. She’s written Before I Fall which is also an incredible book and is one of my Fav books also with Delirium. There has been gigantic praise of Delirium and has exceeded my expectation.

On My Wishlist #1

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where we list all the books we desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming.

Time Between Us - Tamara Ireland Stone

Anna and Bennett were never supposed to meet: she lives in 1995 Chicago and he lives in 2012 San Francisco. But Bennett’s unique ability to travel through time and space brings him into Anna’s life, and with him, a new world of adventure and possibility.

As their relationship deepens, they face the reality that time might knock Bennett back where he belongs, even as a devastating crisis throws everything they believe into question. Against a ticking clock, Anna and Bennett are forced to ask themselves how far they can push the bounds of fate—and what consequences they can bear in order to stay together.

I really want to read Time Between Us. It sounds so romantic and a little like Dr Who. Stunning  cover and I can't wait to read it.

Black City - Elizabeth Richards

In a city where humans and Darklings are now separated by a high wall and tensions between the two races still simmer after a terrible war, sixteen-year-olds Ash Fisher, a half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a human and the daughter of the Emissary, meet and do the unthinkable—they fall in love. Bonded by a mysterious connection, that causes Ash’s long dormant heart to beat, Ash and Natalie first deny and then struggle to fight their forbidden feelings for each other, knowing if they’re caught they’ll be executed—but their feelings are too strong. When Ash and Natalie then find themselves at the center of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to pull the humans and Darklings back into war, they must make hard choices that could result in both their deaths.

Such a beautiful cover and mesmerising blurb, How can I not resist?

Cinder - Marissa Meyer

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth's fate hinges on one girl...

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She's a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister's illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai's, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction.
Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world's future.

Everyone is talking about this book. In Magazines and in Book reviews. I've heard so many good things and Cinder and I'm still wonder why I haven't read it yet.

Those are my 3 books on my wishlist for this week. What book are on your wishlist?

Immortal Beloved - Cate Tiernan

Book Title: Immortal Beloved
Author: Cate Tiernan
Series:  The first book in the Immortal Beloved Trilogy
Publisher: Hodder Paperback
Published: September 2011

I give this book a Four out of Five which means this book is a new favourite of mine. I’m very happy I chose this book at my school library because as we’re only allowed 3 books out at the library; I struggled to select my 3 books out of all the ones I wanted which were about 10 or 11, I’m very glad I chose this book in the end.  I literally couldn’t put it down that’s how much I loved it. I loved all the characters (well… some of them anyway), I loved the book cover and title; I loved the blurb and also the author… I treasured every word of Immortal Beloved.

Immortal Beloved consists of darkness, romance, magic and immortality and the book cover and title itself gives us an idea about what the book is vaguely about. This book was tagged Para normalcy but doesn’t contain vampires, werewolves or angels which I found was original and a good change from the usual. I thought though the Immortal Beloved was intended for older teenage fiction I think even adults would relish reading Immortal Beloved.

The main character which is Nastasya (Cool name or what?!) had me hooked me with her feisty personality and her determination to turn over a new leaf blew me away. The dialog was simple and easy to believe, the characters were very believable and intriguing and I thought the characters were what made the plot come together and become more realistic. Immortal Beloved was well written and the blurb on the back of the book was a magnet for me because it was so mysterious and full of darkness that you were just itching to know more but the blurb didn’t give anything away. I think it was like a little sign screaming “READ THE BOOK AND YOU SHALL FIND OUT MORE” which I think was another reason I read Immortal Beloved.

I’ve become a big fan of Cate Tiernan in the past few years because of Balefire and I was very impressed with the Sweep series but I have to admit that Immortal Beloved has to be my best book from Cate Tiernan and I think she has started an enthralling and enchanting trilogy.
